JOB SUMMARIES

Pilot

Tropic Ocean Airways is the largest seaplane operator in the Southeast United States. We currently operate Cessna Grand Caravan EX aircraft on Wipaire amphibious floats in The Bahamas, the Caribbean and New York.

 

We are looking for qualified candidates who are interested and able to work in various locations as required. This is a salaried, full-time position, and is offered with a one-year contract.

 

SIC Minimum Qualifications:

  • 250 hours Total Flight Time
  • FAA Commercial ASEL, Instrument Rating.
  • FAA Commercial ASES
  • FAA High Performance and Complex endorsements
  • FCC Radio Operator Permit
  • Second Class Medical Certificate

 

PIC Minimum Qualifications (the above SIC minimums plus):

  • 1200 hours Total Flight Time
  • 500 hours Cross Country
  • 100 hours Night
  • 75 hours Instrument
  • 100 hours Float Time

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • G1000 Experience
  • Seaplane Time
  • Turbine Time
  • Cessna 208 Time

Logistics Assistant

  • Process arriving items into the airway bill and tracking system according to standard procedures.
  • Process guest payments according to standard procedures.
  • Assign items to specific flights for outbound shipping.
  • Load items into aircraft with direction from flight crews and authorized personnel.
  • Properly secure items in the aircraft in accordance Pilot’s Operating Handbook and FAA regulations.
  • Assist guest services with loading and/or weighing guest baggage.
  • Assist with general office duties, such as answering the phone, voice mails, and emails.

Operations Coordinator

This position supports the Operations Department in maintaining the flight schedule and releasing aircraft for flights. This is an entry level position and training will be provided.

 

  • Schedule flight crew to ensure adherence with company and FAA regulations regarding currency and flight/duty limitations.
  • Schedule all aircraft for charter, scheduled service and maintenance.
  • Monitor the progress for each flight.
  • Stay informed of current weather conditions and associated rescheduling needs.
  • Keep appropriate company personnel advised of flight progress as required.
  • Remain current on available resources and training to facilitate an effective scheduling operation.
  • Work closely with maintenance, guest experience, and VIP departments.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays in situations of unexpected scheduling events such as weather or maintenance issues.

Guest Services Agent

This position is responsible for providing all necessary and required guest services including but not limited to baggage processing, gate check-in, greeting arriving guests, handling of VIPs, providing special guest assistance, and the handling of other duties as assigned.

 

  • Ability to comfortably and continuously lift/move 50 lbs. of baggage/cargo on and off aircraft.
  • Frequent bending, stretching, push/pulling, stacking and kneeling.
  • Read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous material identification labels, and baggage and cargo routing tags.

Sales Assistant

  • Assist the Sales Agents by fielding and handling customer calls and emails.
  • Collect data from the guest and input it in to the Tropic CRM or pass it on to the respective individual.
  • Distribute leads as instructed using provided tools and methods.
  • Assist the sales team with revenue generating projects.

Aircraft Maintenance Technician

Aircraft mechanics maintain and repair the avionic and mechanical equipment needed to keep our land and seaplanes flying.

 

  • The repairing, inspecting and maintaining the structural, mechanical and electronic elements of the aircraft, replacing parts, measuring wear and assessing whether parts need repair or replacement.
  • Use a wide variety of diagnostic devices, computers, hand and mechanical tools to assess and fix aircraft, and maintain aircraft standards as required by the Federal Aviation Administration.
  • Ability to comfortably and continuously lift/move 50 lbs.
  • Attention to Detail: Our aircraft are maintained to very specific standards. Precision in the following and execution of standard repair procedures is key.

Customer Service Agent

  • Manage a high volume of incoming calls and emails.
  • Anticipate, identify and asses guest needs striving to always exceed expectations.
  • Provide accurate, valid and complete information by using the provided methods and tools.
  • Be a liaison between our partners and operations team to resolve any emerging issues that may arise with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Record details of guest contact and actions taken in our CRM.
  • Follow communication procedures, guidelines and policies.

Interview Process

All applicants at Tropic Ocean Airways will be evaluated during three (3) separate interviews.

 

Applicants that successfully advance through all three (3) interviews, may receive a conditional offer of employment. Upon the satisfactory completion of a drug screening and background check, conditional employees will receive a new hire information packet.

Orientation

All Tropic Ocean Airways’ personnel, regardless of position, complete a new-hire orientation class within their first few weeks of employment. During Tropic Ocean Airways’ orientation class, we introduce new-hires to the core values of our company, provide guest services training and answer any questions that you may have about our airline.
