This historical staircase was built in the late 18th century as slaves cut 66 steps into solid limestone, leading up to Fort Fincastle. This staircase gave troops protected access to the Fort, which is the highest point on the island. The staircase was named in honor of Queen Victoria who helped abolish slavery in the Bahamian islands. After making your way to the top of the staircase, you will find beautiful panoramic views of Nassau while standing in a fort shaped like the bow of a boat.
