Santa’s Seaplane

With the help of Saving the Blue and Fraser Yachts, Tropic Ocean Airways is bringing Santa’s Seaplane back to the Bahamas for the 2023 festive season! At Tropic Ocean Airways, we have a longstanding history of supporting the islands of the Bahamas, and look forward to once again working with the community of Great Harbour Cay for this initiative.

I was raised with the value of giving back, and this principle is instilled in us in the Navy. We are taught to actively volunteer in the communities where we are stationed. It is a responsibility that comes with being a member of the community. We recognize the privilege of operating and residing there, and it is our duty to contribute and give back.

— Rob Ceravolo, CEO Tropic Ocean Airways

Our mission is clear: To bring the joy of gift-giving to as many children as possible, with Santa personally delivering the presents. We aim to visit Andros, The Berry Islands, and Abaco in The Bahamas. These islands are home to numerous small schools, often difficult to reach and facing supply chain challenges and high costs. This December, we plan to fly Santa to one island and our team to two others, ensuring that school children receive gifts. Join us in making this mission a success!

Saving the Blue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that advocates and researches the critically endangered smalltooth sawfish, vulnerable silky sharks, globally endangered Caribbean reef sharks, and globally critically endangered great and scalloped hammerheads. They conduct their research in Andros, the largest island within The Bahamas, which offers a diverse range of healthy habitats and is largely unexplored.

In addition to their research, Saving the Blue provides creative and educational opportunities to the public, including local marine students and the international community. They frequently visit schools to teach the next generation about green living and environmentally friendly choices. Saving the Blue also sponsors a number of minority groups, youth, service members, veterans, and their families each year. Their outreach efforts aim to inspire, educate, and deliver results in the fight to save these important marine animals.

As Santa Claus and I both originally hail from Finland, it brings me great joy that Fraser Yachts is involved in the Santa Seaplane initiative. This opportunity allows us to give back to the island communities of The Bahamas that have given and continue to give our clients so many unforgettable moments with their loved ones on the water.
